Today one of our favorite Romanistas turns 25; it is perhaps the only thing he’s done in the past six months. Just Kidding! Kinda… As a tribute to the Roman known as ‘Il Principino’, enjoy some of Alberto’s best (and worst)…

Albertino Renews Contract

Aqui finally extended his Roma contract with a deal that expires in 2013. C4 is reporting he will be earning a lot more money in the upcoming years:
Aquilani is set to earn £3.2m for this season, £3.6m for 2009-10, £3.9m for 2010-11 and £4.5m for the following two campaigns.
He was obviously happy with his deal, and thanked Roma president Rosella Sensi:
“I thank president Sensi for giving me the opportunity to continue a dream in my city with the team that belongs in my heart.”
He went on to say that he will continue rehabilitaton in Amsterdam for his ankle injury, and he will be back soon. It seems Alberto’s been busy while he’s been away from the field, as there are rumors he might get married soon to his ~~Desperate Housewives look-a-like~~ girlfriend, Michela.

Injured and Annoyed

Well, it looks like Roma fans aren’t the only ones who have been annoyed with the whole Aquilani, “I’m broken, and have no contract” situation. In a recent interview with Sky Sport, Albertino said of his contract:
“I am happy at Roma, I am a fan of this club and in the next few days we should make it official. As far as I am concerned, the terms are fine and we have an agreement. There are no problems.”

He went on to say that the only real problem left is, you know, actually playing sometime this year:
“I miss the pitch, I thought my ankle injury was less serious, but it’s been going on for a month. I have to stay still to get through it. Every day I wonder when I can return, but I don’t know. Another fifteen days and then we will see. It’s pointless to get more disappointed than this, and I hope to recover and be luckier in the future”.
Hopefully, the new contract will come soon, and Aqui will make a return to the pitch before his current contract expires.

Aqui, DDR, Julia Bapitista, and some of the Lazio fellows won pointless awards recently. There were awards for Fair Play, Best Goal,etc. but more importantly, an award to honor the late great Franco Sensi.

Alberto Rumors

Over the past week there have been many sites saying everything from “Alberto is only waiting on AS Roma to sign a contract until 2013,” to “Inter are planning to make another bid for Aquilani.” Only time will tell when the contract speculation will end, but I think Rosella will get it done sooner rather than later. Alberto is in the Azzurri squad for todays friendly against Brazil-don’t forget to watch!

Yesterday, Roma defeated Napoli 3-0 at the San Paolo. Vuci’s goal came from a through ball by Albertino; the video is below, and you might want to turn the volume down for this one…

When asked about Roma going up the table and Lazio’s descent down it, Alberto replied, “That’s normal.” The Photo of the Day, is what Chris likes to call ‘The Holy Roman Trinity.’ (I can’t wait for all of them to play together again)

He’s almost back…

Happy New Year, Offsiders! I realize the updates haven’t been coming frequently, but Albertino has only played like 3 games this year, you know. Channel 4 has reported that Aqui is thisclose to finally signing his contract extension:
Roma midfield star Alberto Aquilani is close to agreeing a four-year contract extension with the club.There have been doubts over the Azzurri ace’s future as he has stalled over putting pen to paper on a new deal.
It goes on to say that the deal could be signed around the middle of next month. Alberto is in doubt for the weekend game against Milan, due to a back problem. (There are reports that he also had wisdom teeth removed.) However, he did play in Wednesday’s friendly against Lanciano. I’m crossing my fingers in hope that his injury period for the season is over. It’s not just me who’s excited he’s back, just look at Bruno…

Looks like Albertino’s been hangin with his girlfriend, actress Michela Quattrociocche, a lot lately. As you can tell by the pictures he seems thrilled.

He takes her to Roma games, he should be playing in…

It’s That Time of Year Again…

Um, yeah, the time of year where Alberto gets injured. Numerous sources are saying he’ll be out about three weeks due to a second degree muscle strain in his thigh. It’s a shame, really, considering he scored two goals for the Azzurri, and now this happens. Not to mention, Roma needs all the help they can get these days. Hopefully he recovers quickly, and Roma gets back to being the Roma we know. Here’s a little something to make you laugh…
